It All Starts With A Dream!
It All Starts With A Dream
You must know where you are going before you can get there.
Although this title might sound a little like the profoundly patronizing common sense tips that you might expect to receive from your grizzly old high school gym teacher / football coach, THE UNIVERSAL SUCCESS PRINCIPLE hidden behind this statement is amazing. Just marinate on it for a second, IT ALL STARTS WITH A DREAM. YOU MUST KNOW WHERE YOU ARE GOING BEFORE YOU CAN GET THERE. To demonstrate the power of this statement, I want you to take a good look back over your life and want you to answer the following questions with complete candor. Write your answers down next to each question. Your answers will be enlightening.
Where did you go to high school? What electives did you choose to take during your senior year of high school?
How many hours since high school have you spent watching television?
How many hours since high school have you spent hanging out with random acquaintences that you did not really care for then, and that you no longer speak with now?
How much money have you spent buying random crap that you did not need and that you did not really want from a local convenience store?
How many hours have you spent talking about steroid-use in baseball, politics and other issues that you have know ability to control.
How many hours have you spent working at a job that you did not like to make car payments for a car that was nice about 6 years ago?
How much money have you spent on paying for general-educational and completely unpractical college courses?
How much money have you spent on products pitched by compelling late-night infommercials?
My friend, if you are similar to how I was before I discovered the UNIVERSAL SUCCESS PRINCIPLES, your answers have probably made you feel a little sick. Just imagine if you could have all that time and money back to direct it towards one purpose and one focus. If you could round up all of those hours and every last dollar that you spent on regrettable purchases, just think how successful you could be at this point, if for no other reason that because you had simply directed all of your resources and energy into one area of focus. Now this is not to say that you should become a OBI-WON-KENOBI-style hermit. However to put it bluntly I am saying that as hence forth you should regard your time as your biggest assett. Moving forward, you should guard your time and you should only invest it in things that are serious about. Invest your time in significant relationships and with sincere friends, but stop hanging out with the Devil’s Advocate Guy from work who frustrates you. Stop spending 3 hours per night channel surfing before “your show” comes on. Stop buying random crap that you don’t need in bulk at Sam’s Club. Stop volunteering to be a part of political groups that spend 95% of each meeting in formalities and 5% of their time solving the world’s problems. Starting today, it is your job to spend your time wisely. Stop eating food when you are not hungry. Stop buying things that you do not need. Stop engaging in circular conversations with negative people and start investing all of your time into the areas of focus that you are passionate about. Start investing your time into the people that you love and care about. Start living today. And to begin living, it is now time for you to answer the next series of questions quickly and with 100% honesty and candor. Do not lie to yourself.
- What things are you passionate learning and doing in the next 5 years?
- What people would you like to spend more time with during the next 5 years?
- What places would you like to see in the next 5 years?
- What financial goals do you want to accomplish in the next 5 years?
- What spiritual goals do you want to accomplish in the next 5 years?
- What kind of person do you want to become in the next 5 years?
- What fitness goals do you want to accomplish in the next 5 years?
- If you knew that you were going to die within 1 week, what 5 things would you want to do before passing?
- If you knew that you were going to die within 1 day, which of the five things that you just wrote down would be the most important thing to do?
Alright, and now with your goals firmly planted in your mind we should be ready to begin. As Americans we are simply overwhelmed by opportunities. We have opportunities for success and we have opportunities to become failures all around us. For many their are so many options that merely choosing one opportunity to pursue seems limiting and impossible. And so rather than experiencing profound success in one area, they experience failure and mediocrity in nearly all areas. My friends, today you must choose your goals so that we can direct 100% of our focus, money and energy into the plan of achieving those goals. We must then write these goals down somwhere prominent. These goals must be taped to our mirrors and to our dash boards. These goals must be kept in our wallet and they must be attached to our computer monitors. These goals must be in front of us at all times so that we are constantly reminded of them and the daily small steps that we will have to take to turn our dreams into a reality. If you take these goals and you simply place them in a pile on your desk, they too will soon become buried with more pressing issues, random catalogs and bills. And in due time these goals will soon fade away and we will forget that we ever made them. But this will not happen to you my friend, because you are on a 75 DAY SUPER-INTENSE CRASH COURSE TO BUILD A SUCCESSFUL BUSINESS.
My friend life is short and the time to begin achieving your goals is today. I have lost a life-long friend in an auto accident, and I am sure that you have lost someone unexpectadly as well. The reality is that each day we are given on earth is a gift and we truly do not know how many days of this magnificent gift we have been given. So do not delay living even for one second. And so with your goals firmly planted in your mind, it is now time to search for business opportunities that will allow you to the amounts of money you need to turn your goals into a reality. Remember, money equals freedom. Money is not the goal.
